Steel Maxum is a stripper, and the former wielder of the Helmet of Nabu and held the mantle of Doctor Fate. He was removed from the position by the Lords of Order after the "Get Out of Hell Free" card was stolen from the Tower of Fate by Knockout and Scandal Savage.
Biography
Origin
When on his workout session jogging up a mountain, Steel Maxum was chosen by the Lords of Order to be the next Doctor Fate. (Apparently because Steel was in good physical condition.) The Helm of Fate then appeared through a portal and was given to Maxum. Fate used his mystical powers to both protect order and gain personal satsification from his mission.

At some point, Steel developed a romantic relationship with the Silver Banshee, eventually showing her the location of the Tower of Fate.
Two months later, Maxum could be found drinking in a bar. Unbeknownst to him, Scandal Savage and Knockout planned to use Steel to obtain the "Get Out of Hell Free Card" from the Tower of Fate. Having taken an interest in the latter, Steel blindly takes them to the Tower, expecting to be rewarded. He and Knockout share a romantic moment, but Maxum becomes suspicious of Scandal's apparent disappearance. After finding Savage, Steel races to get his helmet, but is intercepted by Knockout. The three enter a fight, and Maxum is rendered unconscious in the process.
After regaining his consciousness, Steel finds the "Get Out of Hell Free Card" missing, but the rest of the Tower of Fate intact. He is confronted by Nabu, who then strips Steel of his power, and removes him from the Tower.
Meeting the Suicide Squad
He was later found by the Suicide Squad in the woods near his trailer and roasted marshmallows with them and told them his origin. He allows Task Force X to take his vehicle momentarily, but is eventually thrown out of the car. Eobard Thawne and his faction find Maxum, who is powerless and alone, then kidnap him. His fate remains unknown.
